Summer Essential Oils You Need to Get Your Hands On

Summer is that perfect time of year when we trade our time indoors for our time outdoors; warm, lazy days lounging poolside, partaking in water sports like swimming, kayaking and stand up paddle boarding, BBQs, picnics and play dates with friends and loved ones; I'm drooling at the thought!
As we collectively look forward to those longer days and shorter nights, I’ve compiled a list of our must-have summer essential oils and blends to help you make the most of this short season. Do-It-Yourself recipes are some of my favorite projects with essential oils and give you such versatility with just one bottle of oil and a few common household ingredients.
I love me some skin-spritzes and this one will not only cool you down but help sun-stressed skin recover. Just make sure you don't get this into eyes or up your nose but otherwise you can spritz generously over skin as often as you wish.

I love to spray this not only on my face and body but give your feet and bottom of feet a generous spray after a day at the beach or in sandals to refresh and cool your tootsies.
Keep yourself hydrated by adding citrus oils to your water. You can also make a natural electrolyte replacement drink to replace lost salts if you've been sweating by adding the juice of 2 citrus fruits, 1 tsp maple syrup, 1/4 tsp himalayan sea salt, 6 drops of your favorite citrus oil like tangerine, clementine, lemon, lime, grapefruit, green mandarin, or bergamot and 40 ozs of filtered water. Add ice, stir, and sip through the day.
You can also make bespoke cocktails with your essential oils. Remember, essential oils are concentrated version of plants so they'll add flavor and health benefits with only a drop. Of course, I only recommend consuming doTERRA essential oils because they assure a level of purity and consistent potency not found elsewhere in the marketplace.

Ditch the chemicals and stay fresh in the heat with a home made body spray. Just stay away from citrus oils and citrus oils can increase the risk of irritation or even burn when applied to the skin before exposure to the sun.

Really lovely essential oil combos for summer scents could include:
15 drops Whisper, woman's blend or Balance, the grounding blend
8 drops spearmint + 7 drops rosemary
6 drops rose + 6 drops lavender + 3 drops cedarwood
10 drops jasmine + 5 drops vetiver
10 drops douglas fir + 5 drops frankincense
10 drops sandalwood + 5 drops cedarwood
play with clary sage, patchouli, black pepper, ginger, cinnamon
Stay tuned for more essential oils and how to use them in my next blog.
Until then, enjoy!
